You, Staying Young: The Owner's Manual for Extending Your Warranty
(Book)
Author: Michael F. Roizen, MD; Mehmet C. Oz, MD
You, Staying Young explores the biological processes that control how and why people age and shows readers what they can do to help slow the rate of aging.
The book presents the Major Agers, the 14 biological processes that control your rate of aging. These Major Agers include short telomeres and inefficient mitochondria, as well as stem cells and hormones. The authors explain the principles of longevity and many of the causes of aging and how to fight the effects.
A 14-day plan to help readers along their path to staying young is also included in this book. The authors want readers to be able to integrate important processes into their daily life in order to make staying young routine. According to the authors, staying young encompasses your emotions and mental health, as well as your exercise habits, eating habits, personal hygiene, and genes, among other things. Michael F. Roizen is a professor of anesthesiology and internal medicine at Case Western Reserve Medical School and chair of the Division of Anesthesiology, Critical Care Medicine, and Comprehensive Pain Management at the Cleveland Clinic. Mehmet C. Oz is professor and vice chairman of surgery, New York Presbyterian-Columbia University. He is also medical director of the Integrated Medical Center and director of the Heart Institute, New York Presbyterian/Columbia Medical Center.
