Age-Defying Fitness: Making the Most of Your Body for the Rest of Your Life
(Book)
Author: Marilyn Moffat, PT, PhD, FAPTA; Carole B. Lewis, PT, PhD, FAPTA
Age-Defying Fitness, authored by two physical therapists, shows readers how to overcome aches, stiffness and unsteadiness in muscles and joints.
According to the authors, many physical problems attributed to aging are often lifestyle-induced and reversible. Using their self-administered tests, readers will be able to assess their own level of physical performance in five areas: posture, balance, strength, flexibility and endurance. There are chapters with step-by-step instructions on strengthening and stretching exercises to improve problem areas. A Thera-Band® resistive exercise band for use in some exercises is bound into the book.
Marilyn Moffat is a professor of physical therapy at New York University. A former president of the American Physical Therapy Association, she is currently on the executive committee of the World Federation for Physical Therapy. She has been in private practice for almost 40 years.
Carol Lewis is founder and owner of a physical therapy practice in Washington, DC. She serves on the medical faculty of George Washington University as a full adjunct professor in the Department of Geriatrics. Lewis has published textbooks and articles in the field of aging.
