When to Call Your Caregiver

When something doesn't feel right, don't feel silly about making that call. Your doctor or midwife is there to help you. The following signs may mean that something is wrong:

  • vaginal bleeding
  • persistent abdominal pain
  • leaking or gushing of fluid from the vagina
  • sudden or severe swelling of the hands, feet or face
  • severe, persistent headache
  • disturbance of vision – spots, flashes or blind spots
  • dizziness, lightheadedness
  • pain or burning sensation on urination
  • chills or fever
  • persistent nausea or vomiting
  • noticeable change in baby's movement
  • 'gut feeling' that something is wrong

If you experience any of these, call your doctor or midwife and have it checked out!
